gas prices soar

Well, we can be pretty sure that gas will hit $3 a gallon by Christmas, given that refineries around the country are shutting down for "unplanned maintenance." Given big oils' record on such things, we can be pretty much guaranteed that they are doing this to tighten gasoline stocks to drive up the price. Just another reason we need to lynch anyone involved with big oil.

Bring it on!

I'm sorry, but I want to see this happen. It would be a wonderful vindication for conservationism.

Unfortunately, I live in Los Angeles. Los Angeles has NO public transport going to Malibu, where I work. And I doubt that Pepperdine would cough up the extra $15k a year it would cost me in gas if they raised the price to $3/gal. As a matter of fact, the department already eliminated the one environmentally friendly thing happening at the University, the telecom day. So, I really don't want to see $3/gal gas. I can't afford it, I can't afford to look for another job, and I wouldn't be able to afford to move to another state if I found another job. And, no, I can't move closer to Malibu because my wife works in Pasedena. We live approximately half-way between our two jobs.

Notwithstanding, I'm keeping my sights set on the long-term benefits of an oil crunch. I don't think America will embrace sustainable energy consumption without pain. :-(

What kinds of vehicles do you drive?

My wife has a mid-size sedan (Lumina), and I have the 2-door Blazer.
