Education's failings

Thomas Sowell, a conservative commentator, has some keen observations on the how the current touchy-feely, self-esteem based education system is failing the more talented students in America.

Which leads me to one of my rants, that I will not produce in full, but will just say this: we need to get back to an era of performance based advancement in education. A student should have to have a minimum comprehension of basic skills to advance in the grades. We should quit spending extra millions of dollars to make intellectually incapable students feel like they are smarter. We should start spending those dollars on helping our smartest students excel, returning the US to the top of the intellectual ladder and innovative world.

That is all.
